"Jack Wood, my daddy, had a love for all people and a few have stumbled upon this site and shared their feelings about him. I decided to post them here. My Mom asks me why I have this site because sometimes I get sad when I am working on it and I can only say that it is a way of me having my Daddy nearby. I work on the computer constantly and I need him nearby." Jo |

Dear Joanna, |
I thought your dad was the great preacher Jack Wood. If he is, I have 50 of his tapes that I got just recently. He is a good preacher.

I wanted to drop a few lines and ask you a few things about your Dad. I just wanted to make sure that I was dealing with the right person concerning Jack Wood, from what I've heard he was a great preacher and one of the few remaining "old time" real men of God from Texas (like Lester Roloff or J. Frank Norris). I have really only heard one sermon by him that I had on tape at one time called "The Life of Stonewall Jackson". I enjoyed that message immensely, especially when he talked about a bulldog he had at one time that "was my kind of dog, he would just lay around and chew on an iron shovel all day." He was contrasting the life of a soldier that Jackson lived to how Christians should be soldiers for Christ. Anyway, I would like to see if you would have any information about where I could get more messages by him either order by tape or download online. Thanks for taking your time to read this and any kind of response would greatly be appreciated. Sincerely,
J.C. RESPONSE:
How did you connect me to Jack Wood? I do not live in
Houston and dad passed away Nov. 12, '98. It was a horrible loss for me; My dad was my everything and the
old bull dog he was talking about was Spot. He had to be the ugliest dog in
the world My favorite message of dad's is the one he preached on The Eye of The Eagle.
That was dad's gift, telling stories and he had lived so much in only 69
years that he had a lot of stories to tell. His church is probably still in
Houston, Shady Acres Baptist and I think they may even have a website. My
father loved people whether or not they thought like him. Initially, you said you wanted to make sure you were dealing with the right person concerning Jack Wood, I know of J. Frank Norris but never met him that I recall. I did meet Lester Roloff and he couldn't stand in dad's shadow when it came to preaching. Nobody can! Dad could be mean as a junkyard dog in his early days but he was My Daddy and I loved him more than life itself. Regards, Jo |

I love to listen to the preaching tapes that I got from a website that has your father's and Bro. Carl Lackey's tapes for sale. He was a Great Man of God, thank God for his stand for God and his stand against sin.

I came across a web page that was a tribute to Brother Jack Wood. I was a member of his church years ago and was wondering if you still have the photos of him and Yvonne and your brothers and sisters. I knew David and John and Marsha, but I was closest to Priscilla. I have lost contact with Priscy and wish that I could communicate with her again. I hope this is still your email address and that you get this. Maybe you could tell me how I can contact Priscy? I would also love to know more about Brother Jack. My deepest condolences on your loss. I lost my father also and we were very close. I still miss him every day and it has been over 20 years since he died. Glenda G. |
